Things that went right today:

  • Did not have to leave the house! Woo hoo! I love this time of year when we don't have to be anywhere on the weekends. Fall, winter, and spring have so many events and it's nice to be able to slow down on the weekends in the summer.
  • Painted Will's old room. This was a spur of the moment project. We had planned to move Will's bedroom to the playroom and the playroom to his room but once we had everything cleared out of Will's room, we decided that now was as good a time as any to paint. The purple walls with pink stripes (and one random green patch) are gone!
  • Yummy fajitas for dinner. Albertson's had them buy 1 get 2 free (yes, you read that right, not a typo!) so I didn't even have to cut the meat or veggies.

Love Wins!

Sigh. So I haven't posted every day, or even every week like I had planned. At least I didn't let an entire month go by without a post. So that's something.

Today, however, was a landmark day in this country and I couldn't let it pass without commenting. Today, June 26, 2015, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that the Constitution requires that all states to license and recognize same sex marriage.

There were other things that went right in my life today, but I'm going to keep those to myself for now. I think that something as big as marriage equality deserves its own post from me without being bogged down by minutiae.

Day 2

Today is my 11th anniversary! Woo hoo!!!

Here are the things that went right today:

  • Waking up next to my husband of eleven years this morning.
  • Getting our nebulizer to work for the three year old. Hopefully we can get it to work through the weekend and then get a new one on Monday.
  • Watching my 7 year old's eyes light up when he got an award at soccer camp today.

Day 1

I saw a post on Pinterest a little while ago titled "What Went Right Today." The idea was to write down just a few things that went right for the day, no matter how small. I've been in kind of a funk the past few months and thought that this might help me get on a new path. I'm going to focus on today. Not tomorrow, not this weekend, not next week or next month or next year. Today. So here's to Day 1!

  • I remembered my cousin, Thomas, today. He was such a spunky firecracker of a kid. He died two years ago today at the age of 3. I have a three year old right now.
  • I did one load of dishes. Yeah, that doesn't sound like a big deal, but believe me, my kitchen is thankful!
  • I listened to Brown Eyed Girl on Spotify while cleaning the kitchen. I love that song and it brought a smile to my face.
  • I diffused citrus fresh and peppermint essential oils this afternoon. Those are my happy scents.
I'm going to commit to doing this through July 4th and I'll see how things go from there.
